Celebrate good times!
The weekend of celebration for Harold continued over at the Rosebud Fair, their Nations equivalent of State, County and community Fairs all rolled into one; think Webster Days on the 4th of July on steroids.
The Fair is held every year to commemorate Lakota warriors victory at Greasy Grass (known to non Natives as Little Big Horn).
People come from all over the surrounding counties and sleep in tents, tipis and their cars on the campgrounds.
The smells, not only from vendors but from continuous food preparation by huge extended families throughout the grounds, is endlessly tantalizing and tempting.
Oh, and while folks from South Dakota might be used to their weather in late summer, I know 3 poor St Louis folks who were freezing for much of each night. The temperature on Saturday night was slated to reach 39 degrees!! Do you know how close to SNOW that is!!
The dorm at Bishop Hare was never more warmly welcoming!!
