Andy

He would have loved it - a full campground with a tent revival atmosphere: children's laughter, the crackle of campfires, music and horse shoe playing in the background; sounds not quite able to drown out the currents of the river and birdsong at the bend in the river where we made our circle.

We went to Ghost Hawk Park this evening for communion - with all the saints - and to remember and give thanks for the life, ministry and many gifts Andy offered all of us.

There were tears; there was laughter; there was a profound sense of gratitude that our lives had been touched by this remarkable man.

And we said goodbye, once more, in a manner, and in a landscape, that was so typically him.

It was an exquisitely painful and lovely evening.

When you are told that death has come for me, do not believe it.
Walk out on the plains and I will speak to you
in the soft, mystery song of the wind;
touch a leaf sprinkled with morning dew and you will be touching me.
Pick up a smooth, worn stone and feel it's weight and warmth,
that will help you to understand that I am not dead.
Whether I am in your hand, on the breeze or in the river flowing to the sea,
I am a child of the changing earth, changed and free.

... so let me go like a leaf upon the water,
let me brave the wild currents flowing to the sea
and I will disappear into a deeper beauty,
but for now just stay with me.
Audrey Assad

Our hearts were lighter coming 'home' - it was just the evening he would have wanted for us.

  2. Yes, he DOES love it. Andy is with you in so many ways - with the people he loves doing the work that is so important and meaningful in this world. We absolutely need each other and that realization is Andy's continued gift to all of us. Thank you for making it real.
