Day Two -
how can staining fences and fixing gates be so exhausting -
and take SO long?
This isn't a trick question -
the only answers are :
I don't know
and it just does!
After working, all day, at Sage and Krista's house,
they came back to the dorm for dinner
with us.
Sage is a Lakota heritage teacher for 6th, 7th and 8th graders,
a gifted educator,
and a very patient teacher...
answering all our questions,
giving us new insights into his culture.
At least we were paying attention
when his 1yr old son wasn't charming us completely!
His antics also (temporarily) took the sting out of the reality
that the building where we're staying
lost all water
approx 1 hour before dinner!
Hopefully something's been gerry-rigged
for the night
but things look iffy!
We're all trying to remind ourselves
that mission trips are designed to teach flexibility
and the chance to separate out
the truly important
from the merely convenient!
Apparently, we'll see!
Thanks for the update. Fence looks good. Nice to see Christa, Sage, and family. Glad they were able to join you for supper. Miss not having heard Sage's cultural insights. Sounds like a great mix of work with interchange. Hope you found water. Was a very nice, coolish day here. Good rest to you for tomorrow.

I appreciate your desire to separate the needs from the wants, but water is pretty close to a need. Hope at least drinking water arrives soon!
