Things that made us smile today...
* watching the shadows of morning clouds racing across the fields
* Looking across the campus -
and knowing our Emmanuel Youth are in the building right down the driveway;
a building made possible with funds from Emmanuel parishioners
in honor of Susie Skinners retirement.
*Seeing the sign for the building,
designed and fabricated by Andy Ruhlin,
a founding member of the Adult Mission trip,
and a beloved friend of us all.
*Missioners who shop, cook
- and keep our bodies healthy and strong!
*Looking at the HFH buildings on campus,
knowing we've been a part of their mission since its inception.
*For the health and healing of our friend,
Dorothy (here with her husband, Ray);
someone who fell in love with this area
and has been serving here faithfully
for decades.
*ripping wood
*painting, not scraping
* talking friends out of 'taking the fast way down'!
* being on the other side of the house -
and not having to have a 'sing along' with Nancy
* a half day of work, so we can explore the reservation
* knowing that the new windows we purchased
and are installing
will keep snow out of the women's bathroom this winter!

* watching the mist and fog over across the fields
* seeing wonderful new HFH office staff,
Elizabeth,
knowing she and Lauren will soon begin to process the 600 pending applications
of people wanting and needing homes on Rosebud.
* St James Chapel
The Rosebud Episcopal Mission was established in 1875 on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation
in south-central South Dakota, the home of the Sicangu Lakota Oyate (The Burnt Thigh Nation).
*Knowing that long before the reservation system was established,
long before St James was built (1912),
God was here with his Lakota people.
