Prayer Circle

"I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen; not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else". CS Lewis

For the past several years, trip participants have framed their day by gathering for prayer in the morning and at the close of day.

This time is seen as an essential component of our life together not only for offering thanksgiving for Gods providence but for helping us remain focused on the true motivation for our mission and the source of our strength.

During prayer time, we have the opportunity to share reflections of the day, work experiences, observations/concerns and to review "housekeeping" items re scheduling and the tasks necessary for our common life.

A prayer booklet is compiled and printed for each individuals use.

Worship material draws on both traditional and contemporary resources, including the Book of Common Prayer, “Gates of Prayer”, the Jewish Prayer Book, "Psalms for Praying: an Invitation to Wholeness" by Nan Merrill and alternative prayers gathered from various source material.

Leadership of worship is a shared role.

Throughout the trip, we will try to post examples of the prayers we’re using in our daily worship time.

Over the years, participants on the trip have come from various denominations; regardless of congregational affiliation, the common prayer we share as Christians is the Lords Prayer. It is through recitation of that prayer, instituted by Christ, that we conclude each prayer circle.
