One More "Loaves and Fishes" Miracle
Last year, after occasionally collecting soap, lotion and shampoo while on various business trips and vacations, we delivered one small bag of these travel-sized items to the White Buffalo Calf Woman's Shelter here on "the rez." The toiletries were very gratefully received, which motivated us to do it again this year. So 6 or 7 weeks ago, we asked our fellow Emmanuelites and friends at Christ Lutheran to join us in donating some of these items. We made this request through a few simple announcements and placed one small cardboard container in the dining room. In typical (but no less miraculous) fashion, our fellow parishioners responded to this request with an overwhelming outpouring of generosity (see photos below).
The single bag we brought with us last year turned into 30-40 bags this year. The quantity allowed us to share these items with three organizations serving the people who live here on the Rosebud - Tree of Life, All Nations Church and, once again, the White Buffalo Calf Woman's Shelter.
We are SO thankful to everyone who participated in this endeavor and we certainly intend to repeat it again next year. So start collecting those items! On behalf of those you have helped here, we say "Pilamaya" (thank you very much in Lakota).
