A Night at the Art Institute
Not many Mission trips can use THAT phrase!
We were invited by our Lakota friends
to come to the Art Institute of Sinte Gleska University (SGU)
to see the current exhibit of contemporary Lakota artists
as well as see a documentary film
based on the interviews of Lakota elders
made by the University Cultural Historian
and our friend,
Don Moccasin.
Since we weren't in South Dakota when the film was premiered,
we were given a private showing.
What a fabulous evening!
There's always so much more to learn
about our friends culture and history.
How blessed we are to have such patient
and charming
teachers!
And, if there's anyone out there
who thinks that age or wrinkles diminish a persons beauty,
then they've not spent any time with Mary Sue Walking Eagle.
an Elder who radiates beauty,
gentle acceptance
and wisdom.
What a gift to be in her presence
and hear her stories.
I'll say it again,
it was a fabulous evening!
