Friday - Last Work Day
The culmination of many projects ...
On our first day in town,
the priest in charge spoke to us about some vandalism at the Episcopal cemetery
owned by the local congregation;
some restless, unsettled souls -
'wagani' in Lakota -
causing trouble.
She asked if anyone in our group could do 'lettering' for some signs,
to mark the spot more 'officially'
and to remind more earth bound troubled spirits
that this was a place of peace.
Our other 'newbie' was the perfect person for the job!
She devoted herself to the task tirelessly all week!
God surely knew what He was doing
by calling her to come with us this year!
You should have heard the cries of delight
from the adults in the congregation when they saw the signs
as we came back into town that evening.
Yup, that's right -
I skipped out of the last day of work;
well, working on HFH sites that is.
I can't honestly tell you what happened on the different work sites today,
but I can show you some pictures
other folks shared with me!
Note the new window and door exterior trim,
plus a new cellar door
and a new storm/screen door.
Sign installation!
I can't speak authentically to what happened on the last day
because I was several hours away -
in Sioux Falls
watching a dozen or so kids
enjoy their first ever trip to the zoo!
Yup, some of us get all the hard jobs!
A terrific, but exhausting day -
driving for 4 hours,
seeing the zoo in 4 hours
driving back for another 4 hours -
but I wouldn't have missed it!
No wonder we put over 4,000 miles on the van
in our one week away!
